Informationen zum Autor ERÍN MOURE is a poet and translator (primarily of Galician and French poetry into English) who welcomes texts that are unconventional or difficult because she loves and needs them. Among other honours, she is a two-time winner of Canadäs Governor General¿s Award (in poetry and translation), a winner of the Pat Lowther Memorial Award and the Nelson Ball Prize, a co-recipient of the QWF Spoken Word Prize, a three-time finalist for a Best Translated Book Award in poetry, and a three-time finalist for the Griffin Poetry Prize. She is based in Tiohtià:ke/Montréal. Klappentext Rooted in medieval Galician-Portuguese cantigas, most untranslated before now, Erin Moure's poems take off from the title phrase, literally "the place where falling is made." Also a word for waterfall, "O Cadoiro" opens the "falling-place" that humans inhabit, where poems help heal without necessarily resolving anything. Where many poets tend to disdain the lyric form, Moure embraces it -- returning to its roots, reveling in its beauty, and exposing its surprising modernity. Zusammenfassung O Cadoiro is an astonishing exploration of lyricism by one of our greatest poets, best known in recent years for her challenging experimental work. But where experimental poets often disdain lyric, Moure embraces it, revelling in its beauty and its radical modernity. Rooted in medieval Galician-Portuguese cantigas, her poems in O Cadoiro are a breathtaking passage through archive, rhythm, address, and the mystery and wound of authorship itself. From the author's postface: O cadoiro is, literally, the place where falling is made. In Galician, cadoiro is one word for waterfall. Cataract, perhaps. Thus, the fall. This to me is the place of poetry, for whoever writes poetry must be prepared, ever, to fall. The postface to  O Cadoiro  is freely downloadable via a link on Erín Moure’s website at https://erinmoure.mystrikingly.com . It is not printed in the book. ...
