Zusatztext He is unique in simultaneously bringing down the curtain on an era and raising one on another! ushering in a genre of writing that... has never been surpassed. His own life! as footballer... eye surgeon! champion of injustice and investigator into the paranormal! is the stuff of legend. Personally! I would walk a mile in tight boots to read his letters to the milkman Informationen zum Autor Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was born in 1859 in Edinburgh, Scotland. He was a doctor by trade; optician more specifically. It is rumoured that during his off periods of work he would think about and write his various stories. He is well known for several science fiction works, but of course his most recognizable works are the Sherlock Holmes mysteries. He died in 1930. He tried desperately to "kill off" Holmes so that he could pursue other genres of writing as well, and not just be known for the Holmes mysteries. However, after much public outcry, Holmes returned in "The Empty House" and in many other stories following, up to the "Case Book of Sherlock Holmes" collection. Klappentext 'There's the scarlet thread of murder running through the colourless skein of life, and our duty is to unravel it, and isolate it, and expose every inch of it'. Arriving in the wilderness of London and in need of lodgings, Dr John Watson finds himself living at 221b Baker Street with one Sherlock Holmes. When a corpse is discovered in a derelict house Watston, fascinated by his brilliant, eccentric companion, is soon drawn into Holmes' investigations. There's no sign of a struggle, no wounds on the body, yet scrawled in blood across the walls is the word RACHE - revenge. Watson is baffled but for Holmes the game is afoot...
