About the author

Marianne Martens is Professor at Kent State University’s School of Information, USA. She researches and teaches about the interconnected fields of literacy, youth services librarianship, and publishing. Martens is the author of Publishers, Readers and Digital Engagement (2016) and The Forever Fandom of Harry Potter (2019). Martens served on the USBBY Board, the H.C. Andersen Jury, and on multiple ALSC committees. Previously, Martens was vice president at North-South Books. You can read more about her at mariannemartens.org.Sylvia M. Vardell is Professor Emerita in the School of Library and Information Studies at Texas Woman’s University, USA, and the author of Children’s Literature in Action (Bloomsbury Libraries Unlimited, 2019) and Poetry Aloud Here (2006) and editor of A World Full of Poems (2020). She has served on national award committees including the ALA Caldecott, Odyssey, Sibert, and Legacy committees, and the NCTE Poetry Award Committee.
