Description

Read more

This third of three volumes presents papers from the fourth series of the NODYCON conferences held at Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken, NJ, USA, in June of 2025. The conference papers reflect a broad coverage of traditional topics in nonlinear dynamics as well as newly established and emerging streams of research. These include
• Composite/nanocomposite structures for dynamics: damping, modeling, dynamics
• Metamaterials and programmable/multifunctional structures
• NEMS/MEMS and nanomaterials: multi-sensors, actuators exploiting nonlinear working principles
• Systems with time and/or space delays
• Fractional-order system dynamics
• Advanced cryptography based on chaotic maps
• Ecosystem dynamics, social media dynamics (user behavior dynamics in multi-messages social hotspots, prediction models), complexity in engineering.

  • Cutting-Edge Integration of AI and Data-Driven Dynamics;
  • Multidisciplinary Approach to Nonlinear Systems;
  • Real-World Application Focus with Engineering Innovations.

About the author

Walter Lacarbonara is a Professor of Nonlinear Dynamics at Sapienza University of Rome and the Director of the Sapienza Center for Dynamics. He holds a Master’s degree in Structural Engineering from Sapienza University, a Master’s degree in Engineering Mechanics from Virginia Tech, and a PhD in Structural Engineering from Sapienza University. His research interests include nonlinear structural dynamics, metamaterials and nanostructured composites, asymptotic techniques, nonlinear vibration control, experimental nonlinear dynamics, and dynamic stability of structures. Professor Lacarbonara is the Editor-in-Chief of Nonlinear Dynamics and has served as Associate Editor for the ASME Journal of Applied Mechanics, Journal of Vibration and Acoustics, and Journal of Sound and Vibration. He chaired the ASME Technical Committee on Multibody Systems and Nonlinear Dynamics and co-chaired the technical programs of the ASME 2013 (Portland, USA) and 2015 (Boston, USA) IDETC Conferences. Additionally, he has organized over ten international symposia and conferences, including the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th International Nonlinear Dynamics Conferences (NODYCON), with events held in 2019, 2021, 2023, and 2025 (www.nodycon.org).
His research has been supported by several national and international funding sources, including EOARD/AFOSR, NSF, the European Commission, and the Italian Ministry of Science and Education. Professor Lacarbonara has published over 280 papers and conference proceedings, seven patents, 50 book chapters, and a Springer book. Additionally, he has co-edited 12 volumes in the Advances in Nonlinear Dynamics series. He is also the author of the book Nonlinear Structural Mechanics (Springer, NY).
