This comprehensive introduction to lifespan nutrition provides a complete and evidence-based understanding of the priorities for the health and wellbeing of individuals, communities, and populations across different countries and regions around the world.
Considering growth and development-physiological, cognitive, psychological, and social-across each of the key life stages, the book explores the relationship between food, health, and wellbeing, highlighting how optimal growth and development requires optimal nutrition. Specific physical and mental health concerns are addressed throughout, from conception through to late adulthood, with separate chapters focusing on a range of regional perspectives, including Asia, the Americas, the Middle East, Oceania, the Pacific Islands, Africa and the Caribbean, and Europe.
Also examining key social and political issues such as food security and food sustainability, and featuring illuminating case studies and end-of-chapter questions, this accessible text will be essential reading for students of Nutrition, Dietetics, or Public Health, as well as practitioners working in these areas.
