About the author
Dr. Manish Roy is a Senior Scientist at the Defence Metallurgical Research Laboratory (DMRL), Hyderabad, India, where he specializes in materials and surface engineering for tribological applications. His research focuses on Nano tribology of self-lubricating films and the complex interactions between oxidation, corrosion, and tribology. He has held prestigious international fellowships, including the Lise Meitner Fellowship (Austria) and the Marie Curie Fellowship (European Commission), and has played a leading role in organizing international conferences such as the TriboCorrosion series and Indo-Austrian symposia on materials engineering.
Dr. Rishi Sharma is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics, Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi, India. His research focuses on Surface Engineering, Thin Film Technology, Cold Plasma Processing, Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells, Hard Coatings (Diamond-like Carbon films, Nano-crystalline Diamond films), Solid Lubricant Coatings (Molybdenum Disulfide-based coatings), and Graphene. He has coordinated several funded projects, including Indo-German, India-Israel, and India-Austria projects. He has chaired the sessions at many international conferences. He has organized several academic events, including 2nd Indo-European Symposium on Surface Engineering (IESSE-2024). He was a Visiting Scholar at the University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany (2008–2010) under the DST-BMBF Indo-German Bilateral Cooperation in Science & Technology.
Dr. J. Paulo Davim is a Full Professor at the University of Aveiro, Portugal, with extensive research and teaching experience in Manufacturing, Materials, Mechanical and Industrial Engineering. His core interests include machining, tribology, surface engineering, and sustainability in engineering education. He holds multiple advanced degrees and professional distinctions, including Fellow of the IET (London) and Eur Ing by Engineers Europe. Dr. Davim serves as Editor-in-Chief and Series Editor for several international journals and is actively involved in global research evaluation and academic leadership.
