About the author
Juntian Qu is an Associate Professor at Shenzhen International Graduate School of Tsinghua University. He obtained his Ph.D. from McGill University in Canada. He was the Visiting PhD and Research Assistant with the University of Toronto, from 2017 to 2019. He was the Shuimu Post-Doctoral Fellow and Assistant Research Fellow with the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Tsinghua University, from 2019 to 2021.
His current research interests include underwater soft robot, soft gripper, advanced sensing technologies. By 2025 he has published over 70 papers in international journals and conferences as well as three academic monographs.He has been granted over 45 patents (including 1 US patent). He serves as the Associate Editor of
IEEE Robotics and Automation Letters
and Youth Editor of Nano-Micro Letters. Prof. Juntian Qu is the awardee of the Gold Award at the 49th Geneva Invention Exhibition, the Silver Award of the 77th International Exhibition of Inventions Nuremberg, two-time Gold Award in the 27th & 28th National Invention Exhibition. In addition, he is the awardee of the IEEE IROS 2024 “New Generation Star Projects”, 2025 IAAM (International Association of Advanced Materials) Scientist Medal and 2025 China "Ocean Power Youth Scientist".
