About the author

Dr. Claudio Cameselle is Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Vigo, Spain. He received his Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain) in June 1995. Then, he joined the University of Vigo where he developed his teaching and research career in chemical engineering and environmental technology. He was the coordinator of the master program in Industrial Pollution: Assessment, Prevention and Control (2012-2017). He published several book chapters and conference proceedings about teaching and teaching innovation. His research activities focus on (a) the development of processes for environmental pollution abatement, (b) the valorization of wastes, and (c) the treatment and recycling of industrial effluents with chemical, photochemical, and electrochemical processes. He is the author of more than 95 research papers and some books/textbooks on soil remediation and sustainable engineering.  
Dr. Susana Gouveia is Postdoctoral Researcher at the BiotecnIA group, in the University of Vigo. She received her degree on Chemical Engineering from the Instituto Superior Técnico, in Lisbon, Portugal. After 7 years in the chemical industry and the private sector, she joined the PhD program in the department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Vigo. Her dissertation thesis developed lignin enzymatic modification processes for the valorization of lignin in wood-composite industry. Then, she joined the BiotecnIA research group, where she developed a career as Postdoctoral Researcher. Her main research interests include a) soil remediation with eco-friendly and sustainable technologies, b) industrial waste valorization, and c) wastewater monitoring and treatment. She published over 30 articles in international journals and some book chapters related to her research activity.
Dr. Santiago Urréjola-Madriñán is Professor at the Defense University Center (CUD) at the Spanish Naval Academy, in Marín (Spain). He obtained a degree in Chemical Sciences in 1992 at the University of Santiago de Compostela and a Ph.D. in 1999 at the University of Vigo where he developed his teaching and research career in the departments of Chemical Engineering and Materials Engineering. From 2000 to 2010, he combined his teaching and research activity with the transfer of knowledge at University of Vigo Foundation, promoting the creation of university spinoff companies. From 2010 to 2022, he was deputy director and full-time professor at the CUD. He published several articles and books on teaching and teaching innovation. His research activity focused on corrosion, environmental technologies and the development of renewable energies such as hydrogen as energy vector. He published more than 35 articles and various book chapters. He supervised 4 doctoral theses and registered 3 patents.
Dr. Arvind Kumar Agnihotri is Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at NIT Jalandhar. He completed his Ph.D. from IIT Roorkee, M.Tech. from NIT Kurukshetra and B.E. from Panjab University Chandigarh. He possesses a work experience of over 35 years in research, teaching, and academic administration, with several years spent holding key leadership positions. His areas of interest are geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineering, reinforced earth (geosynthetics and geofibers), ground improvement and soil-structure interaction. He has supervised 15 Ph.D. theses and 60 M.Tech. dissertations. He has more than 80 publications in international refereed journals and multiple publications in various national and international conferences/symposia. He has served as Head of the Civil Engineering department, Dean Academics, Dean Planning and Development, and officiated as Campus Director at Dr. B R Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar. He has completed several sponsored projects, including World Bank projects. He is Fellow of IGS (India) and IEI (India) and member of many professional organizations like ASCE, IGS, ISTE, ISSMGE and IRC. He is Founder Chairman if IGS Jalandhar Chapter. He has organized many national and international events successfully. He has edited multiple books, and he serves as a reviewer for many international journals.
Dr. Krishna R. Reddy is University Scholar, Distinguished Researcher, and Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Director of both the Sustainable Engineering Research and Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering laboratories at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC), USA. He received his Ph.D. in civil engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. Prior to joining UIC, he worked for three years in consulting as Geotechnical/Geoenvironmental Engineer. His research expertise includes environmental remediation, waste containment, beneficial use of waste and recycled materials, and sustainable and resilient engineering. Dr. Reddy has authored several books, more than 300 journal papers, multiple edited books and conference proceedings, book chapters, and conference papers. Because of his excellent contributions, Dr. Reddy received several awards, such as the Fulbright US Scholar Award, ASCE Wesley W. Horner Award, ASTM Hogentogler Award, UIC Distinguished Researcher Award, University of Illinois Scholar Award, and the University of Illinois Award for Excellence in Teaching. He is Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
