A forbidden love. A brutal betrayal. A woman who dares the gods, and pays the price.

In the ancient city of Beit Shahar, Anat has always obeyed her father, her husband, her gods. But when love tempts her to break the rules of her world, one act of defiance sets off a chain of betrayal and loss that will destroy everything she knows.

Branded a sinner and cast out, Anat must fight to survive in a land where mercy is rare and women’s voices are silenced. As war and faith tear her home apart, she discovers a strength even the gods could not foresee—a strength born of grief, courage, and the desperate will to reclaim her freedom.

From the shimmering sands of Canaan to the fires of rebellion, The Flower of Canaan is a haunting story of love’s power to both shatter and remake us. Tim Flood brings the Bronze Age to life in all its beauty and brutality, capturing one woman’s battle to rise from ruin and challenge the gods who betrayed her.

For readers of The Red Tent, Circe, and The Silence of the Girls, this unforgettable tale asks: how much can one heart endure before it becomes legend?
