Description
This work addresses the main gynecological malignant neoplasms and provides the reader with updated information on important advances for their clinical application, molecular bases, origin and innovative approaches for multidisciplinary prevention and treatment. The work comprises of chapters developed by experts in the field, which are distributed in sections that allow the reader to quickly consult the topic of interest. The topic includes epidemiological aspects, risk factors and mechanisms that lead to the formation of various types of cancer in the gynecologic pelvic organs. The molecular mechanisms of its genesis, the new molecular diagnostic modalities, its clinical application and the many locoregional and systemic treatment modalities are included. Special topics are developed such as gynecologic cancer associated with pregnancy, psychological support, as well as different prevention strategies.
Each chapter is developed in simple, accessible, and updated language. Chapters contain many tables and images that facilitate rapid understanding. At the end of the chapter, readers will find worldwide accepted recommendations for study and treatment based on the main global guidelines and consensus of each specialty. The work is written with scientific rigor, based on extensive bibliographic consultation and with the experience of more than three decades of active professional practice. This book will be of great interest in the medical oncology community, gynecologists in training and specialists, as well as a valuable consultation resource for other medical specialties (geriatricians and internists) and physicians in training.

About the author
Marco Antonio Terán, MD
, graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the National Autonomous University of México. He holds a specialty in General Surgery and a subspecialty as an Oncological Surgeon from the National Institute of Cancerology in México. He is the recipient of more than 35 recognitions from civil and governmental organizations for his hard, altruistic work in the fight against cancer: State Award in Health, Award for Merit in Science and Technology in the State of Guerrero, and recipient of the highest award given by the State of Guerrero,

He is the author of various books and scientific publications in both national and international medical journals, and a speaker in more than 400 medical conferences, as well as an undergraduate and postgraduate thesis tutor. He is an active member of different national and international medical groups such as the Mexican Society of Oncology (SMeO), Society of Surgical Oncology of México A.C., Latin American and Caribbean Societies of Medical Oncology (SLACOM), American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO), European Society of Surgical Oncology (ESSO), European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO), and the European Society of Gynaecological
Oncology (ESGO).
Former General Director and founder of the Cancer Institute of the State of Guerrero. Currently, Chair Professor of the Oncology Program at the Faculty of Medicine of the Autonomous University of Guerrero (UAGro) and PhD tutor in Biomedical Sciences at the Faculty of Medicine of the National Autonomous University of México (UNAM); and certified by the Mexican Oncology Council.
