The Girls in Grey tells the story of three Australian Army nurses during WWI. The play challenges the audience to rethink female identity in WWI and provides a female perspective on the ANZAC legend.


About the author










CAROLYN BOCK is co-founder of The Shift Theatre with Helen Hopkins and appeared in their first production of Two Sisters and a Piano by Nilo Cruz. The Girls in Grey is her first foray into writing. Since graduating from the Victorian College of the Arts, Bock has enjoyed a diverse career spanning twenty years in dance, theatre, television and film. Her credits include At the Centre of Light, the story of Mary MacKillop by Rosemary Johns touring regionally and to QLD. Her other theatre credits include Metamorphoses for MTC, Fatboy by Tony Ayres for Playbox and many independent shows for La Mama and other companies. Her body of work during the 90s earnt her a Green Room nomination. Television credits include, Winners and Losers, Lowdown, Neighbours, City Homicide, Last Man Standing, Horace and Tina, MDA, Blue Heelers and Stingers. Film credits include lead roles in Vanished (TBR), SNAK, Zone 39. Other film credits include Murder in Greenwich (USA), oeFish and Chips  by director Anna Boinowski and Sudden Night. From 2003'2008 Bock ran New Generation Dance Theatre for children. In 2011 Bock joined Rosemary Johns devising and co-directing The Golden Fleece for Hawkesdale College. She is also a member of Rollercoaster Theatre Company as a support worker and performed in their production of Realeyes for Melbourne Fringe.
