Francisco Moreno Fernández es doctor en Lingüística Hispánica y licenciado en Sociología. Catedrático de Lengua Española de la Universidad de Alcalá (España) y académico correspondiente de la Academia Cubana de la Lengua. Entre sus publicaciones destacan Principios de sociolingüística y sociología del lenguaje (4ª.ed, 2009) o La lengua española en su geografía (2010). Es director de la revista Lengua y migración, coeditor de Spanish in Context y miembro del comité editorial del International Journal of the Sociology of Language.
