This book critically examines the relationship between prophetic practices in the Bible and contemporary prophetism in African Christianity. Pentecostalism continues to evolve across Africa with its beliefs and practices mimicking the older and well-established Christian denominations, along with the emergence of newer versions of prophetism or neo-prophetism. The contributions analyse the theological underpinnings of Pentecostal prophetism and evaluate prophets' claims that their practices align with biblical precedents. With careful exegesis of relevant biblical passages, the book considers the degree to which modern prophetic practices comply with biblical stipulations. It provides insights in particular from Ghana, Nigeria, and Haiti, and will be of interest to scholars of African Christianity, theology, and biblical studies.

Daniel Nii Aboagye Aryeh is an Associate Professor of New Testament Studies and Biblical Interpretation and the President of Alpha University College, Ghana. He is also adjunct faculty at Trinity Theological Seminary in Ghana and a research associate in the Faculty of Theology and Religion at the University of Pretoria, South Africa.
