This volume explores the adaptations of Greek tragedy, performances, and activism of playwright Luis Alfaro and their impact on the field of Classics, classroom instruction, and community outreach.
The chapters in this volume are organised into three parts. Part One includes contributions that demonstrate how Alfaro's reimagining of Greek tragedy has generated fascinating and complex lines of inquiry and comparison for Classical Studies scholars and those working on classical reception. The second part takes readers into the classroom, showing how teachers of Greek tragedy and Classical Studies more broadly have used Alfaro's plays as teaching tools, particularly for challenging subjects. About the author
Young Richard Kim is Associate Professor and Head of Classics and Mediterranean Studies, with an additional appointment in History at the University of Illinois Chicago. He is a historian of the ancient Mediterranean world broadly, with interests in Late Antiquity, late ancient Christianity, and Byzantine Studies.
