Dieter Lührmann, known for his studies on the canonical gospels, has also done pioneering work on the apocryohal gospels. The present volume contains studies on some new fragments, e.g. the gospel of Thomas, as well as essays on the process of canonization.

About the author

Dieter Lührmann, Dr.Theol. Heidelberg 1964, Habilitation Heidelberg 1968, was Professor of New Testament at the Kirchliche Hochschule Bethel and at the University of Marburg. He has published on the meaning of revelation in Paul, on the Sayings collection Q, on the concept of faith in Early Christianity, and has written commentaries on Mark and on the Galatians.
