Old Norse is a North Germanic language spoken by inhabitants of Scandinavia from about the 7th to the 15th centuries. Old Icelandic is a variety of Old West Norse that emerged during the Norse settlement of Iceland in the second half of the 9th century. The first literary works in Old Icelandic date from the beginning of the 12th century.

In this book there are 12,286 Norse words translated into English, and 7,675 English words translated into Norse. Also included are notes on differences between Old Norse and Old Icelandic, grammar, and numbers.
