Óscar Hahn, obtuvo el graod de Master of Arts en la Universidad de Iowa y el Doctor en Filosofía en la Universidad de Maryland. Hasta 1973 fue profesor de la Universidad de Chile. Durante diez años fue co-editor del Handbook of Latin American Studies de la Biblioteca del Congreso de Washington D.C. Como poeta ha publicado los libros Arte de morir , Mal de amor , Imágenes nucleares y Estrellas jijas en un cielo blanco . Los tres primeros han sido traducidos al inglés. Como crítico es autor de El cuento fantástico hispanoamericano en el siglo XIX , Texto sobre texto y Antología del cuento fantástico hispanoamericano. Siglo XX .
