About the author

Mohammad Tariqur Rahman, Ph.D., is a Professor and Deputy Executive Director (Research and Innovation) at the International Institute of Public Policy and Management (INPUMA), University of Malaya (UM). Earlier, he served as a Professor and Associate Dean of Continuing Education at the Faculty of Dentistry at UM. He holds a M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, and M.Sc. and B.Sc. in Microbiology from the University of Dhaka. He began his academic career at Khulna University and was the Founding Chairman of the Department of Pharmacy at East West University, Dhaka. Before serving at the International Islamic University Malaysia, Prof. Tariq conducted postdoctoral research in Neuroscience at the University of Fukui.
Prof. Tariq published extensively in the fields of oral microbiology, immunology, metallo-biochemistry, stem cell biology, and scientometrics. He has published extensively and has served in editorial roles, including Executive Editor of Annals of Dent UM, Chief Editor of Bangladesh Journal of Microbiology, and Associate Editor of Biological Trace Element Research. He was the Founding President of the Malaysian Society for Oral Microbiologists and Oral Immunologists (MySOMOI).
In addition to academic publishing, Prof. Tariq is the lead editor of Immunology of Dentistry (John Wiley & Sons Ltd.). He also contributes opinion pieces to news portals in Malaysia and Bangladesh.
Prof. Dr. Noor Lide Abu Kassim completed B.A. Hons (English Language) in 1989, M.Ed. (Curriculum Studies) in 2002, and PhD (Psychometrics and Education Evaluation) in 2007 from University of Science Malaysia. She is a recipient of the meritorious Australian Endeavour Postgraduate and Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Award (2004) from the Australian Government, which supported her doctoral work at the James Cook University, Australia. Prof Noor Lide is currently the Director of the International Islamic University Press (IIUM Press) and was Dean of the Faculty of Education, IIUM from August 2021 to July 2023. She was also the Director of the Centre for Professional Development, IIUM from June 2010 to September 2011 and from October 2019 to 30 June 2021. She was a consultant for the Malaysian Ministry of Science and Technology for the National Survey on Research and Development Fiscal Year 2006, The Malaysian Public Awareness of Science and Technology 2008, National Survey for Research, Development and Innovation Activities in Private and Public Sectors of Saudi Arabia Fiscal Year 2009 and the Malaysian Bibliometric Study 2001-2017. She taught at the Faculty of Dentistry, IIUM and at the Faculty of Nursing Umm Al-Qura, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. She is currently teaching at the Faculty of Education, IIUM. She was a statistics consultant at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Malaya from 2013 to 2015. Prof Noor Lide has been working with academics in different sub-disciplines of Dentistry for close to 20 years. She has published in the Annals of Dentistry, European Journal of Dental Education, Journal of Dental Education, BMC Public Health, BMC Complementary and Alternative Medicine, American Journal of Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopaedics, Journal of Medical Imaging and Health Informatics, and Quintessence International.
