Description

The tele-emergency physician system has been steadily gaining importance in prehospital emergency care for years and has already been tested in various pilot projects across Germany. This volume critically examines the system as implemented in the district of Vorpommern-Greifswald through the "Land|Rettung" project. To do so, emergency rescue operation data from 2015 to 2020 were comprehensively analyzed in a pre-post comparison, and the system's costs were assessed based on the project implementation. Additionally, by modeling a queuing system, the study explored different coordination models (centralized vs. decentralized) for the tele-emergency physician system and evaluated their respective advantages and disadvantages.
