About the author










Inspired by their time mentoring others on their career goals, authors Pinay Kainth and Guido Filler crafted Making a Successful Transition from Academia to Industry. By sharing their own experiences with this transition, they hope to help others successfully transition to industry.

Early in his career, Pinay Kainth, PhD, worked as a medical writer and editor before establishing himself in science-based jobs at pharmaceutical companies. He's a PhD-level scientist, technology enthusiast, and avid sports fan. A highly accomplished academic turned industry professional, Pinay finds motivation in bringing complex science to healthcare professionals around the world who treat devastating diseases. Pinay lives in Toronto with his wife and two boys.

Guido Filler, MD, PhD, is a professor of Paediatrics at Western University with cross-appointments in Medicine. With over 350 peer-reviewed publications, he is also the author of AsSALTed (FriesenPress, 2019) and co-author of Becoming a Successful Scholar: A Practical Guide to Academic Achievement in the Medical Professions (Springer, 2019). Guido lives in London, Ontario.
