Urban Air Pollution and Plant Responses: The Critical Connection Between Urban Air Quality and Plants delves into the complex relationship between urban air pollution and plants, examining how plants are affected by air pollutants in urban environments. An expert group of contributing authors explores the nature and sources of urban air pollutants, highlighting the challenges posed by poor air quality in urban areas. The chapters cover various plant responses to urban air pollution, including physiological, morphological, and biochemical reactions. Additionally, the book addresses the impact of urban air pollution on agriculture and discusses the role of plants in producing volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and their effects on air pollution. Sustainable urban planning strategies, innovations in urban greening, and policy and management approaches are explored as means to improve air quality and create healthier urban landscapes. The book provides a comprehensive overview of the critical connection between urban air quality, air pollution, and plant health, offering insights and solutions for achieving sustainable, cleaner growth in urban areas.
