Welcome to the Vida Loco, the club no one wants to join and everyone wants to leave!

Let's begin with a truth bomb: if you're reading this, you probably expected to bounce back from Covid like a spring-loaded Labrador. Instead, you're more like a sedated tortoise who's lost the will to race. Congratulations: You may be living with LoCo (Long Covid). And yes, that's real, despite what that one uncle insists on in the family WhatsApp group.

This book is for you. Whether you got Covid once, twice, or have collected each new variant like limited edition vinyl, and now find yourself exhausted, confused, and Googling things like "Can brain fog make you forget your cat's name?"

The aim here is to mix what I have learned from my accelerated LoCo experience with the healing power of humour. Because if you can't laugh at yourself while trying to navigate the NHS phone system at 8 am with half a brain, what's the point?

About the author

Alexia Daniels is a nurse and writer based on the picturesque south coast of England. Her debut novel, The House of Light & Air, is the first in a captivating series of historical novels set in the theatres of England, where drama on stage is often rivaled by secrets behind the curtain. Alexia's love for storytelling and history intertwines with her sharp sense of observation-skills honed through her work in healthcare. Her latest release, La Vida Loco, is a deeply personal book born from her experience of Long Covid. Irreverent, honest, and unexpectedly funny, it's the book she never thought she'd write-a no-holds-barred look at chronic illness through the eyes of someone utterly fed up with it.Her next book, Sweet Murder, a witty and twist-filled comedy mystery, is set for release in 2026. Alexia is a proud member of the Portsmouth Author's Collective, where she enjoys connecting with fellow writers and sharing the journey of bringing stories to life.
