Education is a fundamental pillar for the development of society, and scientific research is essential to improve pedagogical practices. However, in the province of Santa Elena, a significant lack of research production by basic general education teachers has been identified. This study aims to analyze the causes and consequences of this lack of research skills and propose solutions.Factors such as the scarcity of technological resources, the lack of professional updating and the absence of a collaborative research culture are highlighted. These deficiencies limit the ability of teachers to reflect on their practices and contribute to educational innovation. The lack of research also affects their professional development, generating stagnation and demotivation. To improve this situation, it is suggested to implement continuous training programs in research methodology and provide technological resources to educational institutions, which would strengthen the research skills of teachers in the region.
