The aim of this research was to assess the environmental perception of the population, waste pickers and public managers in Pombal-PB about solid waste management, with a view to presenting proposals for improving its management. In addition Diagnose the socio-economic and cultural profile of the population, waste pickers and public managers; Describe the environmental perception that the population, waste pickers and public managers have in relation to solid waste management in the municipality, Elaborate and make available to the municipality didactic material to assist in solid waste management. It consisted of a descriptive survey involving 272 people in the urban area, 47 waste pickers, including associates and informal waste pickers, and two public managers (the mayor and the environment secretary). Data was collected through semi-structured interviews, photographic records and informal conversations. The data was analyzed according to the nature of the questions. The subjective questions were evaluated and interpreted using Bardin's (2004) content analysis technique, while the objective questions were analyzed using simple descriptive statistics.
