This paper provides an overview of transfers during parental leave. Employers often perceive this option as a burden because the employment relationships of employees on parental leave are particularly protected. The aim of this paper was to clarify whether employees on parental leave are entitled to continue their employment relationship as before taking parental leave. This was done by presenting the legal basis, case law and the most important opinions from academic literature. In a further step, other permanent employment relationships and the possibility of transferring them to another job were also examined. Finally, their interaction and the legal options are analysed.
