About the author

Makoto Tsubota received his PhD from Kyoto University in 1987. Having held academic positions at Kochi University and Tohoku University, he became Professor in Department of Physics at Osaka City University in 2004. In 2022, he became Professor in Department of Physics at Osaka Metropolitan University, where he is currently based.

Kenichi Kasamatsu received his PhD from Osaka City University in 2004. Having worked as a JSPS (Japan Society for the Promotion of Science) research fellow and a lecturer at Ishikawa National College of Technology, he has held an academic position in the Department of Physics at Kindai University since 2008. His research interests are in theoretical condensed matter physics, in particular the theory of superfluidity in Bose-condensed systems and non-equilibrium phenomena in ultracold atoms.
