About the author










George A. Grätzer specializes in lattice theory and universal algebra. He is known for his books on LATEX and his proof of the Grätzer-Schmidt theorem. He founded the journal Algebra Universalis in 1970. George is a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and a member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. He has published about 270 research articles and 33 books including Universal Algebra (1960, 1979); Lattice Theory (1971, 1998, 2011); Math into LATEX (1999; sixth edition 2024); and The Congruences of a Finite Lattice (2006, 2016, 2024).
