About the author
Robert Dennis was born in the mid-1930s in Nashville, Tennessee, and spent his early childhood on his grandfather's farm in Kingston Springs. His formative years were marked by a return to Nashville when his father, who had been working at the Workshop for the blind, was called back to his position. The family settled on Park Avenue to be within walking distance of his workplace. Dennis recalls vivid memories from those years, including playful afternoons with his brother Russell and a hatchet in hand during a rainstorm, near a well closed at the back porch. These early experiences-rooted in rural life, family closeness, and quiet observation-shaped his perspective. Writing with reflection and simplicity, Dennis brings his past to life with sincerity, offering readers a glimpse into a world shaped by resilience, memory, and the rhythms of mid-20th-century Tennessee life.
