This collection of essays presents discussions that were part of asummer school held in Cape Town, South Africa in 2022. Thecontributions are on the subject of teaching of transformationsand transformations of teaching, which refer to translationsof languages, transformation of one's own cultural frameworkinto one that opens up for the mindsets, collective memories,value and belief systems etc. of the Other, and digitalizationand decolonization of Higher Education. The book commenceswith a synopsis and reflection of the discussions held at thesummer school. The first group of essays covers presentationson efforts towards digitalization of Higher Education anddecolonization of foreign language education in Sub-SaharanAfrica. The second part presents contributions on languagesand translation, reflecting on the role of African languages ina Euro-lingua-centric world, the role of German as ForeignLanguage in an African context and the use of translation inbridging the gap between unfamiliar languages and cultures.The third part covers contributions on the cultural practices ofmemorization and memory transforming literary works.
