This collection of essays presents discussions that were part of asummer school held in Cape Town, South Africa in 2022. The second part presents contributions on languagesand translation, reflecting on the role of African languages ina Euro-lingua-centric world, the role of German as ForeignLanguage in an African context and the use of translation inbridging the gap between unfamiliar languages and cultures.The third part covers contributions on the cultural practices ofmemorization and memory transforming literary works.
