This book argues that we should move from a conception of race through an ethical standpoint and move toward a moral view of race. Drawing on Naomi Zack''s analysis of race and ethics, Nathalie Nya explores the topic of race and its connections to morality and ethics. In her work, The Ethics and Mores of Race , Zack presents her work on the ethics of race through an investigation into the history of moral philosophy, arguing that what is ethical or good for White people may not be the same for historically colonized groups, showing the problem with cultural relativism. Building on this idea, Nya develops a moral ethics of obligation around the history of race and colonialism. While Zack''s work covers the ethics of equality concerning race, this work covers the ethics of freedom in the context of race. The views on ethics and racism presented by Nya do not contradict Zack''s philosophy, but add another dimension to the ways in which mores abide by prolonging racism in the field of ethics.
