When we celebrate Easter in 2025, egg coloring and Easter bonfires will probably be the most common Easter traditions in Austria. But there are many more. Customs from all over the country will be summarized. Austria's Easter customs vary from region to region. A long tradition has given rise to a large repertoire of beautiful customs surrounding the most important Christian festival.Easter Sunday always falls on the Sunday after the first full moon after the start of spring in the calendar. In 2025, this will be April 20. The study is divided into nine parts, which deal with exemplary customs, a summary, customs in Tyrol - Vorarlberg - Styria - Lower Austria and ecclesiastical Protestant and Orthodox considerations and a discourse on Good Friday 2025. The starting point of the study is the examination of folkloristic, socio-cultural and religious aspects.
