This thesis focuses on the life course and, in particular, the experiences of young people with Asperger syndrome. Experiences that those affected have had in relation to friendship during their time from kindergarten to university are recorded in interviews and compiled, and opportunities for better understanding on the part of those around them are developed so that they can be used for future support services and therapies. Existing stereotypes are examined and ways in which those affected, their parents, teachers and fellow human beings can better understand the world of people with Asperger syndrome are described.
