The creative industry has driven and strengthened the growth of various economic sectors in Brazil and around the world, thus stimulating the local economy of places with attractive and innovative settings for the consumer market. The focus of this work was to study the relevance of cultural events to the creative economy, as well as to demonstrate how they can contribute to social, cultural and economic development in Praia da Pipa, located in Rio Grande do Norte (Brazil). Cultural events promote themed and creative environments that act as an attraction mechanism for increasing cultural, gastronomic and social leisure consumption. The thematization of the events studied immerses the public in stories that may (or may not) have a connection to local history. In this way, we can see that the work sheds light on a place that is playing a leading role in the state of Rio Grande do Norte in terms of economic, social and cultural renewal and change in its infrastructure and its potential for attracting tourists, based on the creative and cultural sectors.
