Wasswa Shafik (Senior Member, IEEE) is the Head of the Dig Connectivity Research Laboratory (DCRLab), Kampala, Uganda, and a Research Associate at the School of Digital Science, Universiti Brunei Darussalam, Brunei Darussalam. He pursued his Ph.D. in Computer Science at the School of Digital Science, Universiti Brunei Darussalam, Brunei Darussalam. An MS in IT Engineering with Communication and Computer Networks Option, at Yazd University, Yazd, Islamic Republic of Iran, and his BS in IT Engineering with a minor in Mathematics at Ndejje University, Uganda. He has published multiple books, articles and IEEE papers in numerous IEEE International, non-IEEE conferences, and international journals and has been a reviewer/editorial support for several international journals. Currently, he serves as department support for Mathematics for Data Science, Physical Computing, Advanced Topics in Computing, Advanced Algorithms, and System Performance and Evaluation. As a department fellow, he served as a researcher associate at the Intelligent Network Laboratory in Iran. Dr. Shafik has also served as a Community Data Officer at the Programme for Accessible Health, Communication and Education, a Research Associate and Data Manager at Population Services International, a Data Manager, and Research Assistant at the Socio-Economic Data Center, a Research Lead at TechnoServe, and Chief Executive Officer at Asmaah Charity Organisation. His research focuses on developing principled, computationally and statistically efficient models and algorithms for various machine learning problems in Smart Agriculture, Healthcare Informatics, Computer Vision/Image Processing, Applied Artificial Intelligence, and Sustainable Computing.
Adel Ben Youssef is a professor of economics (HDR) at the Université Côte d'Azur, Nice, France, and a member of the CNRS research laboratory. He is an international expert in digital transition and ecological transition and has participated in the animation of a hundred workshops and published more than 100 academic articles in international journals. Dr. Youssef is also a researcher at the Economic Research Forum in Cairo and the Global Labor Organization (Bonn).
Chithirai Pon Selvan is the Director of Research & Head of the School of Science and Engineering, Curtin University Dubai, United Arab Emirates. He has extensive experience in teaching engineering students and has worked in academia for over twenty-five years. He has published/presented more than 150 research articles in journals and conferences and has been invited and honored as a keynote speaker, session chair, resource person, and technical committee member of various conferences held in UAE, India, Thailand, Malaysia, Germany, Italy, Australia, Qatar, and the UK. He is a well-known researcher in the field of Abrasive Waterjet Cutting Technology and has evaluated several PhD theses in Mechanical Engineering from various universities. He is the approved supervisor of many universities including Curtin University, Australia to guide PhD scholars. He is also a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA), UK, and has received several prestigious awards. His research interests are in the areas of machine design, optimization techniques, manufacturing practices, renewable energy, and engineering sustainable development.
Pushan Kumar Dutta is an Assistant Professor at Amity University Kolkata, West Bengal, India, with over 12 years of experience spanning academia and industry. He earned his Ph.D. from Jadavpur University, India, and a post-doctorate from the Erasmus Mundus Leaders program. Dr. Dutta has a diverse research portfolio in interdisciplinary topics such as data mining, AI, edge computing, federated learning, predictive analytics, earthquake studies, sustainability, industry 5.0, machine ethics, and intelligent systems. He has edited over 20 books with leading publishers and published 68+ articles in journals and conferences. Additionally, he has extensive expertise and passion for research and teaching and is an award-winning researcher, having received honors such as the Young Faculty in Engineering Award in 2018.
