This research looks at school failure, with the aim of understanding the main factors that contributed to the high rate of failures in the final exams for grade 10 at the ESVMM in the 2021 academic year. The study was carried out at Manjacaze and Samora Machel Secondary Schools, both located in the Municipal Village of Mandlakazi. A qualitative approach was used to conduct the research, and an interview technique was used to collect the data. Thirty participants were involved in the research, including 20 students who failed the final exams of the 10th grade in the 2021 academic year, 10 in each school, 8 teachers who taught the subjects with exams in the 2021 academic year, 3 of whom were at ESEMA and 5 at ESSM, and 2 teaching managers of the 1st cycle, 1 in each school.
