About the author










Masami Nakagawa is Associate Professor in mining engineering at Colorado School of Mines. He earned his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics from the University of Minnesota, followed by a Ph.D. in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics from Cornell University. His expertise in granular materials has been cultivated through extensive academic and professional experiences. His teaching career includes appointments at Tohoku University and Kyushu University in Japan, as well as at the Colorado School of Mines in the USA. In addition to academia, Nakagawa has held pivotal roles at NASA Glenn Research Center, Sandia National Laboratories, and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. While his primary research interest lies in the science of granular materials, he has focused on applying this knowledge in three key technological areas: lunar dust, geothermal resources, and nanobubbles.
