About the author

Peter Niemz is an emeritus professor at the Institute for Building Materials, ETH Zürich, Switzerland, where he was formerly Head of the Wood Physics Group. He is currently a senior scientist at the Biel University of Applied Science, Switzerland and visiting professor.at Luleå University, Sweden
Dick Sandberg is a mechanical engineer and wood scientist at the Luleå University of Technology, and an elected fellow of the International Academy of Wood Science.
