Ergonomics is the science that studies the adaptation of work to humans, with the aim of improving the health, safety and well-being of workers. Although there are several studies on ergonomics in various sectors, little information is available on extractive activities. This book provides an understanding of the working conditions, health and safety of activities involved in the harvesting and transport of Brazil nuts and açaí in the Cazumbá-Iracema Extractive Reserve in the state of Acre. The variables addressed were human factors, environmental factors (climate and lighting), physical load, postures adopted and load handling.
