The Flores River Basin is a sub-basin of the Mearim River, one of the largest rivers in Maranhão. There is a need for greater dissemination of knowledge about the interior of Maranhão, strengthening the conservation of the most fragile environments and linking this knowledge to the movement of the people in favour of a more sustainable society. The reason for humans to take better care of their environment lies in the pursuit of positive achievements in building a healthy and respectful environment. Respect for others and the environment, increasingly uniting a greater number of people in a common goal of bringing environmental and social health to a very needy people. The people of Maranhão are strong and belong to the customs of various oppressed peoples, black and indigenous, in need of public policies focused on their unique and fragile reality.

Graduated in Environmental Technology from the Federal Institute of Science of Piauí (2005). Specialist in Geography of Piauí from the State University of Piauí (2008). Full degree in Geography from the Federal University of Piauí (2010). Master's degree in Ecosystem Sustainability from the Federal University of Maranhão (2015).
