If the basis of the Anthropocene is that human action changes the destiny of the planet, by proposing the term "Androicene" Miguel Ángel Serrano wants to draw attention to the immense changes that the emergence of the misnamed Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its adoption without an adequate regulatory framework that respects the rights of those affected, including writers, can bring about. It is not unreasonable to think that the next climate crisis will be caused by machines, endowed with ever greater autonomy, or for machines, in what seems like a blind determination by large corporations to feed, at any cost, the new androids. AI gurus promise a more innovative, disease-free world in which machines will make life much easier, but will this be the case? Will it be the case for everyone? In pursuit of this promise (which we will see if it comes true), huge natural, energy, economic, human and all kinds of resources, including cultural resources, are being diverted. No technology should be accepted without criticism and analysis, and even less so when it has such devastating ethical and social consequences: even with its positive aspects, AI, in its mad rush, can trample over the rights of a large number of groups without even a debate. Miguel Ángel Serrano offers a walk, guided by other writers, on multiple aspects of this era of artificial intelligence, in a reflection that will give the human reader much to think about.
