Based on the principle that teaching Portuguese through the reading of literary texts encourages students to behave actively in a process of attributing meaning, this paper investigates the importance of reading literary tales in other genres such as comics, fables, comic books and others. This work presents an analysis of the practice of reading literary texts, especially in various genres, in nursery schools in the municipality of Capanema-PA, thus leading to analysis and verification based on data collection. The research was based on some theorists such as Abramovich, Andrade, Guedes, Guimarães, Vieira and others, to make this process viable, in which a theoretical study and field research were carried out. The starting point was a series of interviews with educators, pedagogues and psychologists, as well as with the children and their reading preferences, all combined with classroom experience and the experiences of nursery school teachers in the municipality of Capanema, all to show how this precious tool can help us in teaching and developing students.
