About the author
Suphi S. Oncel is a chemical engineer with a MSc and a PhD in bioengineering. He is currently working as a Professor in the Ege University Engineering Faculty, Department of Bioengineering (Izmir, Turkiye). His research areas focuses on bioprocesses and renewable energy comprising, bioreactor and photobioreactor design, photobiohydrogen production, fuel cells, biofuels, microalgal biotechnology and bioprocess scale-up. His PhD thesis focused on the photobiohydrogen production and fuel cell applications highlighted the potential of microalgae in biohydrogen production process. Other than his contributions to various national and international projects and student thesis, he is continuing his teaching responsibilities from bachelors to PhD level. He has also edited a recent book from Springer “A Sustainable Green Future: Perspectives on energy, economy, industry, cities and environment, 2023, Editor S. Oncel, Springer” with a specific focus on the importance of renewable energy covering the critical points with a comprehensive and informative vision. Prof. Dr. S. Oncel having different research articles, patents and book chapters is also in Stanford/Elsevier top 2% scientists list in both single year and carrier regards to biotechnology and energy.
