This book is the first authoritative volume dedicated to topical medication treatments in dermatology. About the author
Dr. Rebecca M. Law has expertise in dermatology, pharmacotherapy, geriatrics, and interprofessional education. She has published about dermatology topics in book chapters in core pharmacotherapy textbooks used throughout the United States and Canada since 1997, spanning twelve editions in some textbooks. She has over 150 publications with the majority in dermatology and pharmacotherapy. She has clinical practice experience for in-patient dermatology, geriatrics/dementia, hematology/oncology/palliative care, respiratory, and pediatrics. Her fields of research included dermatology (dermatotoxicology, quantitative structure-activity relationships [QSARs]), geriatrics, pediatrics, and education (pedagogy).
The Association of Faculties of Pharmacy of Canada (AFPC) honored her in 2012 with the AFPC Woods-Hughes Special Service Award in recognition of distinguished service to AFPC Council and Executive; and in 2017 with a Special Recognition Award for 20 years of faithful volunteer service as Editor of the AFPC Newsletter. In 2016 Memorial University’s Faculty of Medicine, Discipline of Family Medicine awarded her the George Hurley Award in Interprofessional Education for excellence of nonphysician teaching contributions to the Residency Training Program.
She is a journal reviewer for Journal of Pediatric Pharmacology and Therapeutics (JPPT), Journal of Toxicology and Environmental Health, Annals of Dermatological Research, Pharmacotherapy, Pediatric Research, Case Reports in Perinatal Medicine and others.
Dr. Howard Maibach sees patients at The Environmental Dermatoses Clinic, part of the Dermatology Clinic at UCSF. His most active fields of research are in dermatopathology, dermatotoxicology and environmental dermatoses. He has done human subject research for over fifty years. Dr. Maibach has been on the editorial board of more than 30 scientific journals. His bibliography includes 3,075+ manuscripts and over 150 books.
In 2013 the America Academy of Dermatology (AAD) honored Dr. Maibach with the 2013 Master Dermatologist Award, in recognition of a significant contribution in the field of dermatology and to the AAD. In 2017, AAD honored Dr. Maibach with their Presidential Citation in recognition of his signification contribution and dedication to both the Academy and the specialty of dermatology.
