After training as a Merchant Navy deckhand in 1959 the author Michael Walsh shipped out on the last of the White Star Line's fleet, RMS Britannic.
He went on to serve under the ensigns of many shipping companies. These include Cunard White Star, Blue Star, Coast Lines, Elder Dempster, Palm Line, Cayzer Irvine, Union Castle, Canadian Pacific Railways, PSNC, Shell, Ellerman and Papayanni. Others include the Bowring Shipping Company, Royal Mail Lines, etc.
Sailing the seven seas and more he lived and worked in the Mediterranean, Middle and Far East, Americas, Australia, and all over Africa. He visited over 65 nations and hundreds of world ports.
During his career, he collected images and memoirs to provide us with a truly nostalgic record of a lost world and what was then the greatest merchant fleet in world history.
Michael Walsh is an award-winning writer and poet of international note. An echo of times past he recounts real-life experiences in a way that resonates across mankind.
