This work aims to discuss the importance of the role of engineers and architects in hospital refurbishments. After years of working in a large hospital, I was faced with a major challenge: that of carrying out interventions without causing harm to patients. Over time, I realised that the care taken with the dissemination of dust and debris within the hospital environment was quite strict, and I asked myself a question: is all this care really necessary? can pathogenic fungi be present within the cladding masonry?
