About the author










Estellito Rangel Junior is an independent consultant on industrial systems, installations in hazardous locations and electrical safety, based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He worked for Petrobras (the Brasilian state owned Oil & Gas company) and has over 40 years of experience based on industrial electrical systems design, erection, commissioning and maintenance in large projects such as complexes in the Oil & Gas sector, and participation in expert groups of technical standards for Petrobras, ABNT, API, IEC and IEEE. He was the first Brasilian expert in IEC TC-31 - International Electrotechnical Commission - Technical Committee 31 - Equipment for explosive atmospheres, where he took part on preparing international standards relating to equipment for use where there is a hazard due to the possible presence of explosive atmospheres of gases, vapours, mists or combustible dusts.
