Our study explores the richness of Tunisian flora, highlighting aromatic and medicinal plants used in traditional medicine, gastronomy and cosmetics. It offers a detailed presentation of local species, their therapeutic properties, as well as their ancestral and modern uses.We highlight the benefits of emblematic plants such as thyme, lavender, eucalyptus, olive, prickly pear, marrubus, arbutus and fenugreek, as well as their cultivation, harvesting and preparation methods. The book also draws on scientific data to validate the efficacy of certain plants in the treatment of various diseases.Finally, a section is devoted to the conservation of this biodiversity and the economic impact of these plants, particularly in the production of essential oils and phytotherapy. About the author
Sana BAHRI and Anouar ABIDI are both PhDs in Biology and university researchers/assistants in neurophysiology and animal physiology. Their research focuses on the cellular and molecular effects of active biomolecules and medicinal plant extracts on chronic and progressive diseases such as pulmonary fibrosis.
