The world will never forget the battle that began on June 25,1876, and for good reason. General George Armstrong Custer divided his forces, and instead of waiting for more ammunition and supplies he attacked a huge Indian village on the banks of the Little Bighorn River in Eastern Montana Territory. No one has been able to reasonably explain the general's actuals because he died along with about 600 of his troops. The battle was fought with Lakota, Cheyenne and a few Arapahoe warriors.
This included Chiefs Sitting Bull, Crazy Horse, Gaul, Wooden Leg and others. The Chiefs did not know it then, but their victory would make the United States Government and its citizens more determined to place all Native Americans on government established reservations.
