About the author
Dr. Purnanand P Savoikar is working as Professor in Civil Engineering in Goa Engineering College since August 2014. He earned his Ph.D. in Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering from IIT Bombay in 2009. He is having industry experience of 04 years and teaching experience of 27 years. He was Visiting Faculty in IIT Goa and NIT Goa in 2018. He has served as Secretary (Board of Technical Education) Goa and Deputy Director (Technical Education) Goa from 2001 to 2006 and was member of Goa State Expert Appraisal Committee, from 2010 to 2016. He was Chairman, Board of Studies Goa University and is Member of Board of studies of Sanjay Ghodavat University, Kolhapur and Gogte institute of Technology, Belgavi.
Dr. Sunil S Basarkar is currently working as Chief Technology Officer at S&R Geotechniques Pvt. Ltd. He was the former Head of Geotechnical Engineering at Afcons Infrastructure Ltd, Mumbai. He has Industry experience of more than 19 years and 16 years association with Academia in the area of Geotechnical engineering. Currently serving as Vice-Chairman, Deep Foundations Institute of India, and has spearheaded introduction of CFA piling technology in India. He is Co-Convenor for BIS draft code guidelines on CFA piles with ambitious plans of introducing this pile as one of the Indian codes. He has more than 60 technical papers to his credit, published in peer-reviewed international and national journals; and conference proceedings. He is also a fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India), Indian Geotechnical Society & Indian Institute of Bridge Engineering. Dr. Basarkar also serves in the Editorial board of the DFI Journal (USA).
Dr. Jaykumar Shukla is presently responsible for coordinating the technical development strategy, geotechnical consulting assignments for the leading consulting and testing organization Geo Dynamics Engineers LLP since 2019. With more than 20 years of experience, He is Principal Engineer presently and responsible for the geotechnical consulting and instrumentation areas. In 2007, joined leading design consulting organization L&T-Sargent & Lundy as Senior Geotechnical Engineer and worked on many prestigious power projects and international assignments. Has worked with Royal Haskoning India and Essar Steel Ltd previously. He is Recipient of university gold medal for undergraduate studies and obtained his Ph.D. from IIT Bombay. Known for his technical proficiency in the field of geotechnical engineering and numerical modeling skills. He is Executive Committee member of Indian Geotechnical Society for the term 2019-2020.
Dr. A. Boominathan is Active Academician, Researcher and Consultant in the area of geotechnical engineering. His expertise includes Soil Dynamics and Earthquake Geotechnical Engineering, Deep Foundations and Ground Improvement. He received his Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering from Moscow Civil Engineering Institute in 1986. He has authored over 200 scientific publications including over 70 articles in refereed journals. Dr. A. Boominathan is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Earthquake & Tsunami. He is a fellow of the Indian Geotechnical Society, a National Executive member of Deep Foundation Institute (DFI) of India and Associate Member of American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
