Living in public spaces has a direct impact on citizens' lives. Discussions in recent years have pointed to the need to rethink public spaces as places where people can meet, interact, form opinions and build citizenship, making them an emerging issue. These are issues that can be tackled by making proper use of current and future capacities, improving efficiency and reinventing the organisation of cities, with a forward-looking vision of the future as a tool for civil society action strategies. With this in mind, it is believed that design is capable of collaborating in the development of forward-looking scenarios for cities. To this end, the study proposes a methodological process of listening through the development of a workshop model that enables the creation of prospective scenarios, so that these can corroborate the future of people's participation in urban planning actions.
